Print Full BioKurt is a civil litigator with over twenty years of experience trying cases in the state and federal courts. His practice focuses on business litigation and professional liability matters. He also regularly represents public officials before the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission.
Early in his career, Kurt regularly was named a “Massachusetts Rising Star” (available to attorneys under forty years of age) by the publishers of Boston Magazine. He has been named a “Massachusetts Super Lawyer” by the same publishers on a yearly basis since 2011.
Kurt frequently represents shareholders of closely held corporations in disputes involving alleged breaches of fiduciary duty, usurpation of corporate opportunities, and corporate freeze-outs. He also regularly represents a major professional liability insurer and its insureds, for which he appears throughout the country.
Kurt is a co-chair of the Board of Directors for the Hopkinton Center for the Arts in his home town of Hopkinton, Massachusetts. He also serves on several boards for the Town of Hopkinton.

Representative Matters
- Business Litigation
- Represented the minority shareholder of a family owned business who had been frozen out of the company, and negotiated a favorable buy-out of his interests in the company.
- Represented the 50% owner of a closely held business against his business partner, and after a three week jury trial obtained a multi-million dollar verdict in favor of his client.
- Defended a Massachusetts employer against alleged violations of the Massachusetts Wage Act, including a successful appeal before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court that confirmed the statute of limitations for overtime claims under the statute is two years rather than three.
- Professional Liability
- Defended many insurance brokers in negligence actions arising from the alleged failure to advise client and/on place requested insurance.
- Defended a national insurance broker in a multi-million dollar negligence claim brought by the surrogated insurers of fifty-two property owners arising from a major warehouse fire.
- Defended an attorney in a negligence action arising from the closing of a complex commercial real estate transaction.
- Criminal / White Collar / Regulatory
- Represented a Massachusetts employer under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for alleged safety violations.
- Represented a Massachusetts employer under investigation by the Department of Labor for alleged Wage Act violations.
- Successfully represented a municipal official wrongly accused of ethical violations before the State Ethics Commission, resulting in the termination of the Commission’s investigation.
