Conn Kavanaugh has consistently recruited at Boston-area law schools for summer associate and permanent associate positions. Our philosophy has been to attract the best possible law school graduates, to train them at their craft, and to grow the firm from within by developing our new lawyers.
Typically, the firm's summer program has consisted of one or two second year law students. The program is a "real" experience in that our clerks are given substantive responsibilities in pending matters of varying complexity. We also encourage our lawyers to involve the summer clerks with court appearances, depositions, negotiations, or the like. We view the summer program as an opportunity for summer clerks to acquaint themselves with the firm, and for the firm to satisfy its permanent hiring needs. While the number of law clerk openings is limited, this process consistently has resulted in permanent placements for first year lawyers, many of whom have continued to practice at Conn Kavanaugh for years.
Though Conn Kavanaugh does not travel beyond the Greater Boston area for on-campus interviewing, we encourage second year law students from other schools to submit their resumes for consideration each September. Where appropriate, we will make special accommodations to arrange for interviewing at our Boston office.
Frequently, we have hired lateral associates when necessitated by work demands. Typically, when such opportunities arise, Conn Kavanaugh advertises attorney openings with Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
Conn Kavanaugh has developed a reputation for excellence in the Eastern Massachusetts legal community. In all cases, we are interested in hiring attorneys who are bright and ambitious, and who have demonstrable analytical and research and writing skills. Any employment inquiries should be made in writing by emailing the Recruitment Manager or at the firm's mailing address at One Federal Street on the 15th Floor in Boston, Massachusetts 02110.
