Since its founding in 1988, a staple of Conn Kavanaugh’s practice has been the defense of business entities in serious and complex personal injury or property damage actions. From the time of engagement, we prepare every case for trial to a court or jury. We also recognize that various forms of alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, may be a better approach. Many of the cases handled by the firm have involved multiple parties and complicated indemnity and contribution issues. Our clients have included architects, engineers, construction contractors, and sub-contractors, and consumer product manufacturers. The defense of these claims requires an intimate knowledge of our client’s business operations and priorities as well as the legal elements of the claims and defenses. We thoroughly understand the complexities of the law in this area. Frequently, our work includes defusing the effect of highly-emotional situations. We also know when technical and expert witness assistance as well as analysis is required and where to locate credible individuals to provide it.
The attorneys in this practice group are members of a variety of defense bar organizations, including the Defense Research Institute, the Massachusetts Association of Defense Lawyers, and the International Association of Defense Counsel.
